 Sepulveda Seniors Golf Club Banquet

The Sepulveda Seniors Golf Club is announcing our next club banquet scheduled for Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at the Monterrey Hall restaurant located at the Balboa/Encino Golf Course.  As always the club will share the cost of the banquet with our club members.  Members will be asked to pay $20 and the club will pick up the remainder.  It will be a great night with awards being handed out, prizes being won, and members getting a chance to socialize with new and old friends.  Members are welcome to bring their significant others to join in the festivities.  Please place this date on your calendar.  More information will be given to you in November.

President Saul Isler Has Something to Say

Any club is only as good as it's members.  Our membership has been growing at a nice clip over the past 18 months.  It is time to encourage new and continuing members to take a leadership role in our club.  Any club member is welcome to join us at our monthly Board meeting.  At this time, the meetings continue to be held on Zoom.  If you wish to be added please let me know.  We will be looking for new members to join the Board; and our voting for new members takes place each year at our annual banquet in December.

Our GHIN Handicap Keeps Competitive Play Fair

Our two or more monthly tournaments are always so enjoyable and our Tournament Director, Jan Bernard, makes it easy for us to participate.  In order for the tournaments to be enjoyable it is important that everyone maintain their GHIN Handicap properly.  It is very easy to do, just post all fairly played scores (those not posted by our Tournament Director).  The computer system takes care of the rest.  Your GHIN is recalculated on a daily basis.  Players are encouraged to post scores on the day that they play their round.  By posting regularly you are helping to keep tournament play fair and equitable for everyone.  In the next newsletter the difference between your GHIN and your Course Handicap will be explained.  You will then understand that you receive a different number of strokes depending on the ratings for the golf course where a tournament is played.

Club Championship Coming In October

Along with our one day away tournament on the Victoria Lakes Course at River Ridge in Ventura on October 11, we will play our two round club championship using both Encino and Balboa courses.  You do not have to be a low handicap to be identified as the Club Champion.  We do recognize our Club Champion as the low gross player, but we recognize equally our low net Club Champion.  Do not feel intimidated by the title of the tournament, as always there is a level of competition, but it is mostly for fun.  We look forward to many players joining us for this two round tournament.

Welcome Associate Members

Many of you do not realize this, but our club is now accepting Associate Members through the SCGA.  These members are new to our club and we hope that they will choose to take advantage of some of our tournaments and social kindness.  We hope that each Associate member will try out playing in our tournaments and perhaps then choose to convert to regular membership.  In any case, as Associate Members we welcome you.  We will help you to maintain your GHIN handicap and we will communicate with you on a regular basis.  If you have any questions about our club, or if you need assistance in maintaining a proper handicap, you can reach out to our Board members or Handicap Chair to get information.
